Mr. Garcia is an experienced trial attorney and seasoned litigator with a wealth of litigation experience meticulously representing the Government, Unions, Corporations and individuals in criminal defense, civil service employment defense and personal injury matters.
Mr. Garcia began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the prestigious Bronx County District Attorney’s Office where he handled thousands of cases and successfully conducted hundreds of grand jury presentations, pre-trial suppression hearings, bench and jury trials. His cases involved homicides, robberies, felony narcotics and other violent crimes. Mr. Garcia’s substantial experience as a prosecutor provides a unique first-hand perspective of how prosecutors and law enforcement officials develop and investigate cases, which is essential to providing a strong successful defense.
Mr. Garcia continued his legal career as an Assistant General Counsel for the NYC Department of Education where he reviewed, interpreted and enforced the Collective Bargaining Agreements between the NYC Department of Education and various unions including the United Federation of Teachers and DC 37. Mr. Garcia conducted all aspects of Education Law §3020-A disciplinary hearings and Section 75 disciplinary cases before the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings.
Then, as Associate Counsel to a NYC Corporation, Mr. Garcia handled a large case load defending doctors and other health care professionals from medical malpractice and/or negligence allegations from inception through discovery, including depositions, court appearances, motion practice and trial. Since then, in private practice, Mr. Garcia has vigorously represented and protected the rights and interests of clients who have been hurt due to the negligence and/or recklessness of another party.
Most recently, as Associate Counsel at Koehler & Isaacs LLP, Mr. Garcia provided criminal defense and civil service employment defense services for both private clients and public sector unions, their officers, trustees, directors and other union officials, making himself available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Mr. Garcia has successfully represented clients in courtrooms throughout New York City, Westchester, Orange, Rockland, Putnam, Albany, Suffolk and Nassau counties as well as Section 75 disciplinary cases before the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings and appeals pursuant to Section 813 of the New York City Charter before the New York Civil Service Commission.
Mr. Garcia received his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Economics from Boston College an earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from New York Law School.
He and Glenn Race, Esq., who served as prosecutors together in the Bronx, are now lead trial attorneys for the firm.
